Repair & custom 20

I received a repair request for an original design made-to-order jacket that I made over 10 years ago.

The content is a full replacement of the zipper.

The zipper isn't damaged to the point where it can't be used anymore, so it's more of a design custom than a repair.

The fasteners originally used are a type called "Vislon", and the elements are made of resin.

This material is not used in the Head Factory ready-made models so far, but I personally love the combination of Vislon and riders, which was popular in the late 70's.

Let's digress for a moment to a little zipper anecdote.

Fasteners with metal elements are often used for leather products in general, including riders, but vislon and coil fasteners are also used in a wide range of fields.

Somehow resin fasteners have a weak impression compared to metal fasteners, but that's not the case at all.

The basic structure of metal fasteners is that each metal element part is attached to the nylon tape that serves as the base.

Vislon, on the other hand, is similar to the nylon tape, and the resin element permeates the fiber, making it almost integrated.

Metal fasteners are often damaged, and when the fastener is viewed from the front, there is a case where the element that should bite at right angles to the tape is distorted diagonally, preventing the slider from passing through.

This is a state in which the element rotates with the biting part as a fulcrum due to an external force, and the left and right elements do not mesh, but with an injection mold such as Vislon, this does not occur. It is.

Most of the fasteners are broken when there is some kind of problem in the relationship between the element and the tape, and after that, the tape itself is broken.

So, if the two materials of the tape and the element are well-balanced, one problem is clear.

In that sense, Bislon is strong.

Regarding the other issue, the tearing of the tape itself, nylon tape is used for both metal fasteners and vislon, so there is no choice but to be careful when using both.

In terms of the strength balance between materials as a fastener, vislon can be said to be ideal.

Now for the repair.

This time, we will remove the vislon fastener and transplant the injection fastener "MZF".

Also, I won't stop writing about this special fastener "MZF", so I will omit it, but as the name suggests, it is a fastener made by injection molding die casting like Vislon, and the element is a zinc alloy.

In a way, it's the strongest, and it's cool.

Pockets, cuffs, front center, all zippers will be replaced and a makeover will be planned.

done.

The original jet-black design was fearless and cool, but the silver lines accentuated it and transformed it into a slightly different impression.

Actually, I changed the collar of this jacket from a stand collar to a regular collar a few years ago, so this is the second minor change.

Three times of fun in one place,,,

Custom is good.
