How to care for leather jacket maintenance staff
Leather maintenance carried out by shop staff
When purchasing a jacket at a store,
"How should I maintain my jacket?"
You may be asked questions such as:
I'd like to explain it to you, but I thought there might be some parts that are difficult to understand, so I've summarized it!
It's time to oil up your leather jacket during the season.
First of all, it's time to oil your leather jacket, but my recommendation is during the season!
In other words, summer perforated leather might be just right from now on!
(This time I'm wearing a non-punched jacket.)
“At the end of the season, I oil it up and put it in the closet…”
However, we do not recommend oiling up at the end of the season because you will have to cover the dirt with oil and store it.
When storing it in the closet, only remove dirt from it.
If you are concerned about dirt, etc., please consider our cleaning service "Refreza" .
Leather maintenance items
The following four items will be used during this maintenance.
① Waste cloth (front left of image)
②Leather crystal (back left of image)
③German brush 1 (right end of the image)
④German brush 2 (image center)
Start with brushing
Roughly remove all dust with German Brush 1 (large brush).
Use German Brush 2 (small brush) to remove dust from small areas such as pocket gaps.
step② Lightly wipe the surface with water
Next, use a rag that has been dampened with water and wrung out to remove any remaining dirt that could not be removed with the brush.
If you rub too hard here, it may cause the color to fade, so only lightly wipe the surface.
You can use a towel at this time, but I personally recommend a T-shirt that you no longer use because it doesn't lint as much!
step③ Oil up first test on the back side
At this point, it's finally oiled up.
Apply oil to the sponge that comes with the Leather Crystal, but there are two important points here.
The first step is to spread the oil over the entire sponge so that there is no uneven application.
And the second point is to test on the back side before oiling up the whole thing.
Before applying the product to the entire surface, be sure to test it on a spot that is difficult to see from the front, such as the back, and then apply it to the entire surface.
By doing this, you can check the change in color and compatibility with the leather after applying the oil, so this is an essential step if you are applying the oil for the first time!
step④ Apply oil all over and dry in the shade
Finally, apply oil evenly all over!
In particular, the elbow area is often bent and stretched, and wrinkles can form easily, so be careful.
I recommend applying it along the wrinkles as it will reduce unevenness!
If there are any areas where you have applied too much, just wipe it off with a rag.
Once the entire surface has been oiled up, dry it in the shade in a well-ventilated place and the oiling is complete.
Maintaining a leather jacket may seem difficult and troublesome, but it's actually not that difficult.
If you do this once or twice a year, you'll develop a love for it, and you'll be able to stick with it for a long time, so enjoy taking care of your favorite leather jacket along with maintaining your car!
