Episode 12: Recommended Items for Connoisseurs (CHAPS, Ride Wader Edition)
Continuation of episode 11...
Shirasawa | thank you very much! |
Kita | thank you very much! |

Shirasawa | So, does that also apply to the waist lacing on chaps? |
Kita |
Hmm, it's a little different. Do you know how to size chaps? |
Shirasawa |
Yes, of course. It's the circumference of your thigh in inches. Hmm? I see! Even if you choose based on thigh width, everyone has a different waist size, so you can adjust it to fit each person? |
Kita | That's right, I understand now. By the way, when choosing the size of chaps, please suggest the smallest size that the zipper can close. If you don't set it to the initial tightness, it will become too loose as you use it, and it will look bad and be difficult to use. |
Shirasawa | It's better if it's tight, right? |
Kita |
Yes, I think they need to be tight. I've been wearing chaps for over 10 years, but they've become too loose and I've had to adjust the width twice. Also, chaps are often thought of as something to wear to keep warm in the winter, but they can actually be worn all year round. Originally, they were worn by cowboys (there are various theories). They were used as protective gear to protect their feet from branches and thorns while riding horses, so they are not affected by the seasons. Nowadays, in addition to horseback riding, they are also worn by bikers and people who use chainsaws in the mountains. |

Shirasawa | When it comes to motorcycles, safety comes first so you want to use them all year round, but in reality it seems like it would be very hot on hot days. Is that ok? |
Kita |
The great thing about chaps is that you can put them on and take them off on the go. Leather products are breathable while riding, so they don't get steamy, and you can just take them off when you reach your destination. In summer, I wear shorts and chaps, so I can ride lightly and comfortably at the destination. |
Shirasawa |
It was the first time I'd heard of someone wearing chaps with shorts (sweat) It certainly looks comfortable, but I don't think it needs to go that far. |
Kita |
Well, I'm not recommending shorts. Chaps certainly have a hard look, but what about ride waders? |

Shirasawa | This will give you a casual look. |
Kita |
They are half-length chaps, and at Kadoya they are called Ride Waders. The knee-length pants look soft, don't they? Also, they are made of heat-resistant leather, so they insulate the engine heat of air-cooled or cruiser-type bikes, so they are perfect for hot days. |
Shirasawa |
Indeed, this is an item that would appeal to connoisseurs. Since it is above the knee, it does not provide any wind protection around the thighs, so if you are wearing it in the winter, it might be best to pair it with pants made of sturdy fabric. Pairing it with a leather jacket or leather vest will dramatically increase your biker level. |
Kita | Right. It's a useful item, but be careful when you equip it. |
Shirasawa | Is there anything I should be careful of? |
Kita |
Once, I was putting on a leather jacket and chaps and was about to head out the door when I realized I had no pants on and had to rush back. If I had continued to drive around like that, I might have been arrested (lol) |
Shirasawa |
Ummm. I don't want to imagine it, so can you stop talking? (bitter smile) I think Manager Kita is probably the only one like that. |
Kita | Uh, yeah. Sorry about that. |
Shirasawa | By the way, someone who was trying on my chaps asked me, why does the zipper on the left leg keep falling down? |
Kita |
Hmm, that's an interesting question. Well, there's an answer to that too. It's... |
(Door opening sound)
Kita
|
Ah, I see a customer. |
Shirasawa
|
welcome! |
Kita

welcome! |
